'Blessing our Communities in Jesus name for the transformation of all'

Our Vicar is Rev’d Susie Thorp.  Susie spent much of her childhood here in Sunderland, and after training to be a Vicar in Oxford she returned to the North East.  She worked in Teeside for 5 years as a Curate and Interim Minister before returning to Sunderland in November 2013.  She is half time Vicar of Doxford and half time Chaplain at St John’s College, Durham.

Meet the Vicar

Susie is passionate about enabling people to grow in their faith and understanding what it means to follow Jesus today.  She can be found in and around the parish, often with Millie her dog, and particularly enjoys spending time in the local schools.

Her Chaplaincy role involves being a Christian pastoral presence in College, and offering a listening ear to staff and students.  She also enjoys getting involved with the life of the College including playing football and coxing boats!

Outside of work Susie enjoys being outdoors; gardening, going for walks with Millie, and has taken the opportunity, living by the sea to learn how to surf.
