A funeral service marks the end of a person’s life here on earth. Family and friends come together to express grief, to support one another, celebrate a life lived and loved, and commend the person into God’s keeping. Funerals can be small, quiet ceremonies or larger occasions; in all events we offer a professional service sensitive to the needs of the family.
At St Wilfrid's we believe that God’s love and power extend over all creation. Every life, including our own, is precious to God. Christians have always believed that there is hope in life and that there is new life in Christ after death. As your local Parish, we are here for you at a difficult time. We work closely with our Sister Church of St Matthew's Silksworth and if you choose us to help we will provide a bespoke service to meet your requirements either in St Matthew’s Church, Silksworth or at the crematorium or cemetery chapel or by the graveside.

The Vicar of Silksworth, Rev'd David Tolhurst shares the responsibility with the Church Wardens and Church Council of St Matthew's for the ongoing care of the churchyard. They welcome support from the community in the maintenance and tidiness of the churchyard and if you are able to help in any way they would love to hear from you.
Following a bereavement and burial, many people wish to place some form of marker on the grave. Because the options are very different in churchyards and public cemeteries, if you would like further information please contact Rev'd David Tolhurst by clicking on the link below
